Sea Bright, New Jersey (Monmouth County, New Jersey) was once a group of wooden shacks on the sand dunes of a barrier island in the 1840’s. It was called “Nauvoo” in the native American language in that area, which means “beautiful or pleasant place.”
Just 70 minutes travel time below New York City, and just below Sandy Hook’s National Park, Sea Bright is named after Sea Bright, England. With a year-round population of 1,818 (2000 Census) it’s a popular destination for all seasons of the year.
Great beaches and fishing for albacore, bluefish, stripers and weakfish wait for anglers in Sea Bright’s ocean waters. Sea Bright also has many private beach clubs and beautiful restaurants, and the nightlife and popular local bands make the evenings fun in Sea Bright.

The public beach is open from Memorial Day through mid-June on weekends, and open seven days a week thereafter through Labor Day.

Restrooms and Showers: Restrooms are located on the beach, as are outdoor showers and an enclosed changing room.
Parking: Parking is free in a municipal lot, which holds about 500 vehicles, however, parking is shared with downtown stores. Adjacent publicly owned lot prohibits parking. Free on-street parking is also available.
Lifeguards: Lifeguards are on duty from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends from Memorial Day until mid-June, after which they are on duty daily until Labor Day.
Access for Visitors with Disabilities: Access to the beach is available at various points along the boardwalk. All main entrance points are accessible at ground level.
Food: Food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted, as are coolers. Glass containers are not permitted, nor are beach fires.
Additional Information:
Volleyball is permitted on a designated area on the main beach.
Anchorage Beach is a state-owned, free beach, used primarily by surfers and fishermen. There is limited parking at Anchorage Beach. Much of the length of the town has no parking and no access to the beach over the seawall.
